The Irene Sala Care Foundation project "Site-specific hydroclimatic and palaeoenvironmental markers at B60, an Upper Paleolithic site in the lower Besor Basin" uses plant wax biomarkers to reconstruct hydroclimate change in the Negev desert during late MIS 3
StalFire is multi-lab collaborative framework (consortium) established to facilitate research focused on utilizing paleoclimate data archived in stalagmites. The primary goal is to provide new insights into paleo-wildfires, with a specific emphasis on assessing the paleoclimate-wildfire relationship in CA across multiple timescales and under different climate states. As part of this consortium I am developing a Bayesian stalagmite proxy system model targeting both established palaeoclimate proxies and novel biomarker proxies of fire activity.
The Leopoldina funded project "Developing a multi-proxy stable isotope approach to demonstrating the climatic preferences of site-use of Late Pleistocene humans" uses plant wax biomarkers and faunal stable isotope analysis to detect climatic preferences in Neanderthal site occupation strategies
